CD Reviews

Very pleasant pop from one of the finest singers
09/13/1999
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Home Again is sadly overlooked, even by long-time Judy fans. But it's one of the more pleasant pop efforts of the 80's era, with a variety of musical styles (country-pop and pop-rock among them) woven together in a winning package. The Home Again duet with T.G. Sheppard is heartwarming; Yellow Kimono and Everybody Works in China have intriguing lyrics wrapped around sing-along melodies. The Elton John composition Sweetheart on Parade is also a winner. This album is a worthwhile addition to anyone rounding out their JC collection and is proof positive that there was indeed some charm and warmth in the cynical and overproduced world of 80's pop music."
HOME AGAIN

(3 out of 5 stars)

"Judy tries to branch out with pop rock on this recording with some country thrown in. The title song HOME AGAIN is however a beautiful duet. ONLY YOU and DON'T SAY LOVE have a definite pop beat but surprisingly Judy does a great job on these tunes. YELLOW KIMONO does tell a tale of a husband who leaves on a business trip and sends home a Kimono, but never returns home. EVERYBODY WORKS IN CHINA (oh yeah, oh yeah,) so what??? This tune should have been cut from this project. The other ballads, FROM WHERE I STAND and THE BEST IS YET TO COME are musical and lovely."
