Johnathan Butler is one of the greatest guitar artists of all time. This is a fabulous collection of his work.

Great CD...Misleading Title!

"'The Ultimate Butler' ?? While the CD sounds great, the title makes the buyer think it's a collection featuring hits & more from Butler's ENTIRE career (starting in 1984). There's absolutely nothing from Butler's tenure on Jive records during the 1980's, but this CD collects many of his more recent non-album tracks & appearances. 'If I Ever Lose This Heaven' (featuring Maysa) is pure gold, and to tell you the truth, you can't go wrong with any of the 12 tracks. In addition to the misleading CD title, I have an issue with the CD's short tracklisting (ONLY 12 songs!!). Jonathan Butler has a wealth of non-album tracks, so I added a few to my CD, which is now closer to an 'Ultimate' experience (somewhat!).

'The Ultimate Butler' is recommended to Jonathan's fans, but don't expect

to hear his hits on this CD. Consider buying the 'The Best Of' CD on

Jive Records if you don't have Butler's classic CDs from the 80's!

"His melodic resonance and harmonic wails with exceptional musical talents all mixed on one CD. Jonathan ceases to amaze me - and this 25th Anniversary CD is an excellent compilation of his style and music. For those handful few people that haven't experienced Jonathan Butler :-) this is an excellent compilation of his music. For those die-hards, you must have in your collection. And for all others...nice to have because there are a host of Jazz artist that joined him on this CD such as Kirk Whalem and Maysa!Jonathan's rendition of NO WOMAN NO CRY compliments the writer without mimicking style it was an awesome job!! And his new release, IF I EVER LOOSE THIS HEAVEN, with artist Maysa is magnificent. A sultry blend of voices and style make for a wonderful blend of talents! If you are a Maysa fan, then you must get for this song. I can't find enough words to say how awesome this duo performed. The lyrics and music makes you fall in love all over again.Once again I would recommend adding this one to your collection."
