Detroit rocks!

"Real great rockabilly, raw with an excellent slapin' bass. 23 tracks were recorded from 1957 to 1959. Some of them at Sun records with Sun's session players, others with Stan Getz (formely Jack Scott's bassist) on guitar, Marvin Maynard on bass and Clark Locker on drums. Very good, but sound quality is bad."

"Johnny's great! Not a single number that is weak on this CD!Highly recommended.

No, really, this is very rare case when I liked EVERY SINGLE track on the CD. Taking into account that this is not a 'greatest hits' stuff it must mean something. Johnny appeared to be one of the lost treasures of the rockabilly era. The quality of the recordings is rough, however, it does preserve the feel of 'original sound' and moreover, some of the tracks had been taken from singles, not from the master tapes which are apparently lost..

This CD is for all you guys who dig the raw energy of rockabilly. Take a listen.."

"excellent! i've read some reviews which cautioned potential buyers about the audio qualaity. i went ahead and purchased it anyway and didn't think it sounded much different than many of the stuff cut during that eara. it's one of the best cd's i've purchased this year. if you like early rock... it's a must!"
