"Until recently, I wasn't all that familiar with John McCormack's work. While I had heard the name, I hadn't heard the voice. Now, this is the third of his CD's I've bought, and the more I hear the more I marvel at his voice. Only the modern singer Josh Groben comes close to McCormack, and Groben has all the modern technological advantages McCormack didn't have. These songs--catchy isn't the word for it--addictive comes closest, especially "Send me Away with a Smile," and "tipperary," (though I admit that's not on this CD. The Star-Spangled Banner is here, recorded even before it had been proclaimed our National Anthem, which was done in 1931. I can't tell if this is the 1917 recording McCormack made, and, as I am blind, I can't read the liner notes, but either way, his rendition of an incredibly difficult song is breathtaking. "Sonny Boy," is a lullaby I would gladly sing to my son, if I had one. While singing along with these songs is more than tempting, it is hard to do, since McCormack's voice can't be followed by mere mortals, and it is nearly blasphemy to give tongue at all while he sings. what an amazing listen."

"Being the owner of many John Mccormack CDs,LPs,78s etc., I am quite familiar with this great singer. Simply put, this CD is one of the most enjoyable and satisfying examples of his work. During his lifetime his record sales are reported to be in access of 200 million. Many of the selections heard here, will help explain that figure."
