"This particular CD does NOT contain the tracks listed above by Amazon (1. Afro Blue 2. I Want To Talk About You 3. The Promise 4. Alabama 5. Your Lady 6. Vilia). IT IS NOT THE SAME RECORDING as the classic 1963 "Live at Birdland," it is from earlier dates in 1962. It is the same as the Charly UK CD "Live at Birdland (Featuring Eric Dolphy)" ASIN B000000JLF. It is OK though not great and the sound quality is barely adequate. It's probably not the session you had in mind. It contains



1. Mr. P.C.

2. Miles Mode

3. My Favourite Things

4. Body and Soul.



Tracks 1-3 recorded at Birdland on Feb. 2 (Coltrane, Dolphy, Tyner, Garrison, Jones) and track 4 on June 2, 1962 (same minus Dolphy). It is a "Made in Australia" version on the LeJazz label, "This compilation copyright 1999 REDX Entertainment." Naming it "Live at Birdland" is accurate but it still somewhat misleading since it's not the recording most people expect.



Also there are no liner notes of any sort, nothing about how the recordings were made, edited, mastered or anything. Just a track and personnel listing. Leaves a lot to be desired."
