"This Brahms CD is a DDD recording issued in Canada by MADACY. Material is licensed from MEDIAPHON, a German label.



Lieders on this set are by the Mastersingers of Nuremberg, a small vocal group that took their name from Richard Wagner's three-act opera. There's pleasant acoustics here, a warm echo behind them.



Interpretations of the 3rd Symphony and Tragic Overture are competent if not inspired. A dearth of fluidity is apparent at times but in general they're listenable. Technically, these are nicely miked.



Liner notes consist of a single page covering the lieders, with an additional three sentences on the overture.
