CD Reviews

ABSOLUTELY GREAT ... AND NEEDED!
Bill Mack | Fort Worth, TX United States | 02/17/2008

"Jerry Reed is one of the greatest artists to grace the stage, movies, and recordings. He is also a tremendous songwriter. His guitar works are second to no one. His pal, and fellow guitarist, Country Music Hall-of-Fame member Chet Atkins, referred to Jerry as, "The one-and-only!" This was quite a compliment from the man many consider to be "King of the Guitar"!

I'm a bit surprised that this CD has been reviewed by a limited amount of people, as I write this. However, they gave Jerry the highest ratings possible, and I'm in the same camp!

All of Jerry Reed's works down through the years have grabbed the attention, and accumulated huge sales. This one will do the same, if given a chance. Since it's on a minor label (Jerry's own), chances are against it for the needed distribution and radio play it deserves.

All of the tracks are very good, as expected of the super-talented Mr. Reed, but "BOYS OF '44", Track 3, is a MUST LISTEN! You will notice a personal note from PFC Jerry Reed (Hubbard) on the back page of this CD that will hold your attention in a big way. This line-up of outstanding material by "the one-and-only" is dedicated to our veterans in the military, where Jerry served his country in the United States Army from 1959 - 1961. I must add the fact that Jerry has performed many caring deeds to benefit our veterans; especially those who have been wounded, although he never personally promoted these good works. He simply felt it was his duty.

These masterful works by Jerry Reed are true-to-the-vine: there are the famous guitar "licks", the trademarked vocals, a touch of good gospel ("Jesus Train") ... and touches of happy humor.

This CD is a true collector's item. On my radio shows, it has been a winner all-the-way, according to listeners.

I, along with many "Reed" fans, am appreciative of Amazon for making this "tough-to-locate" CD ... by a REAL SUPER-STAR of ENTERTAINMENT ... available.

As Jerry would shout: "Son! It's time to be heard!"

"THANK YOU AMAZON!! WHAT A RARE SCORE. THIS CD IS FANTASTIC AND I AM A HUGE FAN OF HIS.SO WAS CHET ATKINS IF THATS TELLS YOU ANY THING. SEVERAL OF THESE SONGS WOULD OF WENT #1 IN THE COUNTRY CHARTS IF HE WAS STILL A HOUSEHOLD NAME LIKE HE WAS IN THE '80'S.WELL WORTH THE MONEY,TAKE A CHANCE YOU WON'T REGRET IT.AS A BONUS HE HAS DEDICATED ALL THE PROFITS OF THIS CD TO THE CARE OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS FROM THE WAR.I'M SUPRISED SEAN HANNITY HASN'T HAD HIM ON STAGE AT A FREEDOM CONCERT,RIGHT AFTER LARRY THE CABLE GUY "GIT-R-DONE" HE COULD "GET IT ON""
Has Jerry Reed ever done anything BAD?

"The first cut on the CD about Jerry Springer is funny, but doesn't sound like Jerry Reed, and is somewhat dated humor. But the rest of the album is first-class, typical Jerry Reed material. He is under-recognized for his ability as a guitar-picker, and his vocals are still good for his age. I'm glad Jerry is still spending studio time; he is an asset to the music business. I also wish he'd do more movies. Remember how he stole the show in Smokey and the Bandit? Recommended!"
