CD Reviews

A Winner with great music & lyrics

"First a short history for those who are not familiar with Jeff Deyo. Jeff was the founding member and lead singer of Sonicflood for their first few albums. After selling a million albums and winning a Dove award Jeff left the band to pursue a solo career. This is Jeff's 3rd studio album and 4th album overall counting his live oriented album "Surrender".

Unveil boats the rock factor that his previous work has lacked. With a rock beat and powerful, worshipful lyrics this is a definite treat. My personal favorites include "Glory Rain Down", "So in Awe", the title track, "Unveil", and "More in Love"

For fans of: Third Day, Sonicflood, Tree63, Lincoln Brewster and Delirious?"
Great!

"The last two albums that Jeff Deyo had were great. He has a lot of innovative and creative ideas when it comes to music. However, I felt like he was struggling to keep himself modern. For one thing his vocals were a little more a continuation of sonicflood. The sound bordered on the sound from the 90's, and I thought that if he did not makes some changes he would find himself outside the loop.

On this album, I thought that he pulled out the slack. There was the same originality that one might expect from Deyo but without some of the gliches. For one thing his vocals are a little different and he seems more like a solo artist than a member of a vocal band that does not have a band. Also, he really pulled a strong sound together. The title track "Unveil" is great. "Glory, Falling down like rain" are spectacular. So many of the songs have a great edge of worship that endears them to anyone who likes to pray.

While I loved Deyo's previous works I felt that he really bested all of them with this project. If he does not gain some recognition for this I would be surprised. There is no doubt that I would recommend this album without reservation."
