CD Reviews

Excellent selection
Pedro.V | Canada | 03/08/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Incredible collection of Ponty's tracks. Unlike many, I am glad of the emphasis placed on the older, earlier recordings. This is where he was at the peak of his innovation and composing. This 2-CD set is a must-have for anyone interested in the evolution of Fusion and/or Jazz in general. Definitely five stars."
Nice Compilation of his Music
I.G. Man | Maryland | 02/18/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have most if not all of Jean-Luc Ponty's LPs (remember the LP?) recorded from 1975 to 1985, and this compilation covers that time period rather extensively. This is fine by me- I feel these are most of Jean-Luc's strongest "fusion" recordings. The only beef I have with this compilation is that it does not include "Demagomania" from "Civilized Evil".

I saw Jean-Luc Ponty in concert three times, and I can say that of the 100+ rock and jazz concerts I have attended, his performances all rate in my top 10. What displays of musicianship by the man and his backup band!

Great Introduction to Jean-Luc Ponty
Nimms1 | 09/08/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I realize this is a compilation of songs from other albums. However, for one who is new to Jean-Luc Ponty, this is a great starting place. As others have meantioned it is heavy on his earlier "70's" works, however, these are what brought him to fame and therefore are good for those who are new to him. I actually first heard him when Tchokola was released but soon started listening to his older works. I think this Anthology is a good introduction. I like everything I've heard from him including his latest releases. I highly recommend this album."
