Jane Oliver Is Back Again!
11/04/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After seeing an ad in a local Hollywood magazine, I'm happy to tell everyone that Jane Oliver is back recording on a different record label. So, to celebrate and commemorate her return, I ordered her live concert CD, since my old cassette version deteriorated from excessive use. Wow! What a difference! Her mellifluous golden voice and wistful songs brought back a lot of memories of my life in the 70's. This CD is a must for all Jane Oliver fans, so I would order it ... a.s.a.p! She's one of my favorite female vocalists, along with cabaret diva's Samantha Samuels, Linda Eder, and Karen Mason. By the way, if you like her recording of "Where There Is Love"(track #4) on this CD... . Jane Oliver wrote "Where There Is Love", so if this is any indication of her songwriting abilities, I would like to hear more of her own songs! Light some candles and a have nice glass of wine when you listen to this CD especially on a cold, and rainy night. You're mind will gently unravel all of your memories, and put a smile on your face of so many long, lost friends."
One of the best LIVE concert albums of the 80s.

"This was my introduction to Jane Olivor, and it was so fantastic a CD that it made me go out and buy all her other albums...and it made me long for her return to recording, which I am glad to report she did about 3 years ago on another label. This album does not contain a single bad track. Every single song is sung with total commitment and emotional connection. My favorites are "Weeping Willows Cattails"(I get chills), "Run For The Roses" and "Stay The Night".Her version of "Race To The End"(Theme From Chariots of Fire), with wonderful lyrics is just the sort of thing Olivor excels at..a mid tempo ballad with sensitive lyrics that tug at your hearstrings. Her cover of Grace Slick's "Seasons" is also way from left field, but works wonderfully. And she injects much needed life into Melissa Manchester's "Better Days" and turns it into a winner!Having seen her recently perform live at the Birchemere in Virginia, I must say she is just as amazing, if not better in concert than she is on her albums. And yes, while this concert doesn't necessarily reflect all her greatest hits (lots of fan's favorites are missing) it does give us a glimpse into how creative Olivor can be with a song.I never got to see her in the 80s, but I am glad I have this CD as a memento nevertheless.Stunning work for a tremendously sensitive and gifted performer."
I WAS THERE!!!

"It's been 17 years since this cd came out. I was present on the first of the two nights that it was recorded. Jane did most of her usual songs that night along with some new ones. She was in rare form, and a bit nervous and excited that her concert was being recorded. I think most of the songs reflected on this cd are nothing short of fantastic. Yes, there were many songs that should have appeared on the cd...but all in all it gives the listener an idea of how fantastic Olivor actually is live. This cd should be a part of every fan's collection. Not only is it her last recorded effort but one of her best. Yes, this should have been a double cd, but this has always been part of Olivor's magic...always leave them wanting more. C'mon Jane, it's time for more!!!!"
