CD Reviews

GOOD!
11/21/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This album certainly doesn't have as many lively blues tracks as his second one, "Gone Wandering," which I think are this man's best songs. In fact, such toe-tapping blues numbers are where Jackie Greene's talents are shown off the most, so I sort of wish he'd just skip all the slow ballads completely! That said, if you enjoy "Gone Wandering," you will also like "Rusty Nails." Some songs on this album sound a bit like old Jackson Browne and others in that era of L.A. folky rock."
Amazing talent

"Jackie Greene is undoubtedly the most exciting person in today's music. A young man of 24 years who is "mostly" self-taught, he can do it all and does it very very well. Yes, he can sound like Dyan and Morrison. No objection there for me. Those are fair, justified and honorable comparisons. But, he also sounds like the amazing Jackie Greene who can do it all: ballads, blues, rock, boogie-woogie and honky-tonk. He's young. He's fresh. He's a ball of talent that wants to "build his own house" and wow his his audience. He can and he does."
Five Stars PLUS!

"Contrary to what one reviewer writes, the ballads *are* the best things that Mr. Greene has written (IMHO). This CD combines the best songwriting, guitar, keyboards, and harmonica of a young Dylan-V. Morrison-Jackson Browne-Marc Cohn (not to mention a great blues number comparable to Hendrix/Clapton/Allmans to end the album)."
