"Mr. Sztankov's playing stands up to just about any test. This particular CD contains mostly transcription of works and can provide bassists with access to some great music that they may not otherwise get a chance to experience. Transcriptions range from works for violin to works for piano and even voice. The CD concludes with the Koussevitzky Concerto with orcehstra, but there are occasionally balance problems and the solo bass is some times difficult to hear. The other works are for bass and piano or solo bass. Notable performances are the Massenet "Meditation from Thais", Monti's "Czardas" and the Paganini "Moses Fantasy"."
