CD Reviews

Amazing modern reggae

"I totally agree with the last reviewer of this album. This music is uplifting and perfectly entertaining. Who really cares if it is considered pop-reggae. All that does matter is that it sounds really good."
Let's speak the Circle's language!

"Reggae is surely one of the best music styles ever invented. Not only because it has the sweet sound and riddim to it, but also because it influences and is being influenced by all kinds of music. So, in my opiniont, it's pretty sad to see people judge modern reggae as a rip-off. People who like rootsier reggae should be glad there are some bands that distribute the sweet sound internationally, not blame them for 'raping' reggae music.Inner Circle has been around for a while, 30 years now, and been through a lot of pain and sorrow during the years, but also great success. Now, with their 'new' lead singer Bently (since 95), the Circle has moved on with their music: since Bad Boys came out in 93 the band has improved their sound dramatically; Speak My Language is a solid, durable modern reggae album. So as a international fan from a land with no reggae on the streets I find their music most enjoyable. Yes, they might not produce the rootsy music they did in the '70s, but who cares? As long as they sound good and make me sing and jam, I really don't. Bob Marley was a great man, but maybe it's time people start accepting this as reggae, too, even if it's not Marley."
