Mittelalter Rock at it's best !!!
08/03/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Releasing "Mein Rasend Herz", In Extremo are defending the throne of German and ancient European Folk/Medival-Rock and Metal. They never sounded so powerful, demonic and beautiful at the same time before. The sackpfeiffen (bagpipes) and pauken (big drums)combined with traditional rock/metal instruments let you travel during ancient centuries. M. Rhein's own-written lyrics are full of adventures, destiny, love, the sea, sadness, happiness, battles and stories about the independent lifestyle of the ancient Spielleute (medieval castle and town-travelling musicians). Sometimes hard-rocking and punk/oi-like ("Nur Ihr Allein"; "Macht Und Dummheit"), sometimes smooth and relaxing ("Singapur"; the slide guitar solo sounds like the Beatles in their late years), but always bound to the folk-scene ("Poc Vecem"; "Wessebronner Gebet"; "Liam"). I'm (In Extremo-Fan since 1998 from Leipzig, Germany) addicted to this album from the first second on. My favourite tracks are "Horizont", "Nur Ihr Allein", "Singapur", "Liam" and "Poc Vecem". If you like the In Extremo-Sound, also try bands like Corvus Corax, Schelmish, Eisregen, Cornix Maledictum, Thanateros, Cultus Ferox, Schandmaul and further Dropkick Murphys and Fiddler's Green (Germany). Enjoy It!!!"

"These guys blend different types of medievel music using bagpipes, violin, harp, hurdy gurdy and other instruments with differnt types of rock like metal, punk, pop, and ballads. About half the songs are sung in dead languages but you can find German translations in the booklette and the other half of the songs are in German there is also 1 song in Scotish. Only 1 song uses all acoustic folk instruments while the rest are a mix of folk and rock. This disc says that it comes with videos, lyrics, pics and other things that you can see on your computer but for some reason it doesn't work on mine so I haven't seen any of it.

This isn't their best album but it's good and it does have some very good songs and I would recommend this cd to any one who like In Ex, folk rock or just plain ol' rock because I thimk that you'll be very pleased with it."
