Synopsis

Album Description
Charting the quintet's uniquely beautiful soundscapes and rousing songs, brimming as they are with exceptional characters and historical events, 'Progress. Reform' is a fitting accompaniment to the iLiKETRAiNS neo-legendary live set where the band dress in matching British Rail uniforms and play colossal chords in front of a backdrop of antiquated images of trains, snow and chess... Frankly genius is an understatement- NME. Brilliant, unique, wry: iLiKETRAiNS are at odds with pop's present trends, but then weren't all the best bands out of time? - NME. iLiKETRAiNS stand firmly and gloriously out of place in a country full of haircuts. More Heart, soul and dynamics than the whole of the indie top 40 put together - Drowned In Sound. The sound of Joy Division growing up and discovering hope. Special. - The Fly. Fierce Panda. 2006.

Up and Coming
J. Jeffers | Pasadena, CA United States | 11/22/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The sound of iLiKETRAiNs is entirely original and yet strangely familiar, able to draw the listener in with a richness that is utterly lacking in most music released today. Musicians and intellectuals alike will be pleased by the raw yet refined, emotional sound of the band, blended with haunting vocals and highly intelligent lyrics. Progress Reform, although only having seven songs, samples some of the best work of the group to date, with A Rook House for Bobby, Citizen, and The Beeching Report shining like the jewels in the rough that they are. The best song on the album is easily the heart-wrenching Terra Nova, which recounts the story of Robert F. Scott's doomed Terra Nova Expedition in Antarctica. I would definitely recommend this short album to anyone interested in discovering a great group that is just warming up, and promises to take the indie scene by storm.

All in all, I give Progress Reform a resounding 5."
