The HUNT ROCKS!
Michael Courtney | San Antonio, Texas United States | 09/26/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"So happy to have this coming in on a CD. This has been one of my favorite albums for years and my 3 copies are worn out. The good news is there are even 9 new songs here I've never heard. At this point the Hunt was a 3 piece band that sounded like much more. Thanks to Joe Anthony at KMAC/KISS for playing this and their other releases. If you like hard rock give this a try. "Standing in the road", "Little bit of love", "Heart bender", "What good is love", "It's all too much", take your pick from the first 10 songs on the CD; they're all hits that were hidden from you in the 80's. Once I've heard the others I will let you know more, but if they are as good as the cuts from the Hunt and Thrill of the Kill I won't be disappointed and neither will you. This is a TOP 100 release according to Exiled01!The update on the 10 extra songs included on this CD is that they all seem to be session takes or demos that didn't make the cut to be placed on the original album. Don't let that fool you though. Beyond a doubt, the songs show the abilities of the band, since they all seem to lack that polished accent that production and over-dubs bring to a song. I grade a group usually on how well they are live or how good they sound without all the production. These 10 cuts all make the grade they sound very good and are interesting. These cuts are actually more reminiscent of their first release, as they are not quite as hard. A couple of the bonus tracks worth mentioning are "Fantasy Mansion", "Love Is A Happy Song", and a take of John Paul Young's "Yesterday's Hero". They certainly make BACK ON THE HUNT a great bargain."
