Synopsis

Album Description
Cinematic moog-pop! First time on cd!! Sunshine delirium with an electronic edge! Gratuitous guru of the groovy glee-club, hugo montenegro created hipster fuzz-moog lounge renditions of late 1960s pop confections and his own film score masterpieces. Best known for his 1968 worldwide #1 hit version of "the good, the bad and the ugly", here we present an even groovier side of montenegro. You've never heard the themes from "rosemary's baby" and "the godfather" swing like this or "my way" get funked and moog-ed out of sight! It's our "happening" and it "freaks" us out!! All original recordings 1965-1972, remastered in 2008 from the original rca victor master tapes and appearing for the first time on cd! Deluxe collector's edition features exclusive liner notes - 20 page full colour booklet.

CD Reviews

Not bad

(3 out of 5 stars)

"Basically, this CD is Hugo Montinagro's arrangements of late 60s, early 70s pop songs. A lot of the numbers feature a large vocal section, and his arranging approach makes most of this an excursion into hip easy-listening.

The album is interesting as a period piece, and entertaining to listen to a point, but the arragements can get cloying after awhile. You really have to be a big easy-listening fan or a major nostalga buff to enjoy this from start to finish. I found myself wanting to play some nice, clean hard rock about 1/2 way through.

Still, it is worth owning and playing once in a great while, as long as you know what your getting yourself into."
