"What a difference a decade or more makes. In this CD, 80's british pop icon Howard Jones remakes many of the great songs that made his career. These songs were recoreded live, but not in front of an audience and they sound hot! Jones has thrown in many new intricate rhythms and vocal inflections that simply paint a beautiful new picture of some of the best 80's songs ever written. I saw this concert in a very up close and personal venue, the "House of Blues" New Orleans, LA. When I heard the revamped version of "No One is to Blame", I said to myself, "He's GOT to re-release this!" Although I don't think it will actually be re-released again as a single, it is definitely THE high point of the CD. If you in any way ever liked HoJo...you MUST own this CD! You will NOT be disappointed."

"If you are like me, you were dancing around to "New Song" in the early 80s. I'm dancing around again to "New Song 99" and I'm in my 30s now! This album is the greatest and if you are a long time Hojo fan, it is like you are being rewarded. Every "old" song is a new version and they are all awesome! The new songs, (well, they are new to me) are just as great. Unlike some "kings of Pop", I feel that Howard has grown up with us and his music reflects that growth and maturity. Things have only gotten better! You go, HOJO!"

A mixed bag

"Disclaimer: I was a HUGE HoJo fan in the 80's. I probably played the "Human's Lib" album every day, without exception, for over a year. I was also very fond of "Dream Into Action". While my interest started to diminish somewhat album by album after that, I still consider myself a big fan and own all of Howard's albums, including the difficult to find "Working In The Backroom", which is probably his best collection of tunes since "Cross That Line".I expected a lot of this cd because I really enjoyed Howard's "Live Acoustic America" disc wherein he reinterprets many of his best known songs. Some of the interpretations on "Perform.00" are interesting -- the standout for me being Hide And Seek, always one of my favorite HoJo tracks; others have a rather amateurish sound in terms of recording quality and also seem performed half-heartedly. Many of his hits are redone with a pseudo-reggae feel; this would have been interesting on one or two tracks, but by the end of the disc, it seems like Howard has simply substituted a watered-down version of reggae for the techno-pop/new wave sound that made him famous.The REAL reason to buy this disc is the duet with Duncan Sheik, Someone You Need. A beautiful song performed by both Howard and Duncan extremely well. I also quite enjoy another track I was not previously familiar with, I Must Go. I would definitely recommend this disc to HoJo fans and possibly also to fans of "adult contemporary" music. I'm glad I have it, if only for the few tracks I really like.Final question: Who came up with the awful title?"
