CD Reviews

A Decent Overview of a Great Band
JD Cetola | Omaha, NE USA | 04/06/2001
(3 out of 5 stars)

"As Greatest Hits/Best of cds go, this one is somewhat mediocre. To begin, the 14 songs don't even take up 60 minutes on the cd. The Hothouse Flowers have so many good songs that this disc should've been filled to the 79 minute mark. Nevertheless, the songs included are terrific, my major complaint being the absence of some of the truly fantastic material from "Songs from the Rain"--especially 'Good for You' and 'Isn't it Amazing'. Overall, this cd is worth getting as an overview, but to begin listening to the Flowers, I would recommend starting with either "Home" or "Songs from the Rain"."
Amazing collection of songs!

"These are some of the best songs the Flowers have done. It's a shame they haven't gotten very much exposure, especially in the US market. My favorite song by them is called "Isn't It Amazing" and is found on the album Songs From the Rain, but not on this one, so check out that recording as well if you haven't already. They're one of my all-time favorite groups and they more than deserve more attention than they've gotten, check em out!"
