Bromberg | Atlanta, GA United States | 04/01/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Horn to Horn" is a two-tenor tribute to eight jazz giants that evokes the past rather than trying to duplicate it. Mr. Edwards and Mr. Person don't outplay each other -- they weave in and out of some signature songs ("Lester Leaps In," "Body and Soul," "Equinox"), without dominating the scene. The respect they give each other shows in these arrangements; this isn't a cutting contest but a chance for both tenors to set the mood. It's a classic set for jazz fans, with even some stomp-and-shout vocal chorusing on Gene Ammons's "Red Top." Listen for the quote of "The Christmas Song" in "Body and Soul," too. Richard Wyands on piano, Peter Washington on bass, and Kenny Washington on drums really swing here. It's great fun, and highly recommended."
