"Hood are one of my favorite bands after having listened to pop/rock/indie music for twenty years. Their sound is a combination of many excellent bands, including Pavement, Joy Division, Labradford, Disco Inferno, Wedding Present, FSA, MBV, Bark Psychosis and Slint. Astonishingly, their catalog of five full length lps ("Cabled Linear Traction" "Silent '88" "Structured Disasters" "Rustic Houses, Forlorn Valleys" and 1999's "The Cycle of Days and Seasons" plus some great stuff on 7"'s) represents a consistently finer body of work than any of those great bands. "RHFV" is a shift toward longer, slower-to-develop song structures. Like all of Hood's work, it grows upon one with repeated listenings until you find yourself humming even miniscule fragments at odd moments in your day. Hard to track down, but well worth the effort."
