Synopsis

Album Description
The life and sounds of the nineties come crashing into those of the fifties in this modern Rockabilly trio. Coming from a state known for it's tie-dyed bands, Colorado's Hillbilly Hellcats tell stories of skateboards and hippies as well as white trash, whiskey and trailer parks. America is listening too, as the Hillbilly Hellcats were the only Colorado band to chart in the College Music Journal's (CMJ) top 100 in 1998. Rev it up with Taz features Taz Bentley, who does all the drumming on the CD. Taz is known for his 7 year association with the Reverend Horton Heat, including his appearances on the first 3 Rev. Horton Heat CD's.

CD Reviews

Baddest album on the whole damn planet
brian e. smith | St. Louis, MO USA | 05/22/2001

"This album will rock your world!! It became my favorite album the day I purchased it, and I own over 1000 albums on various formats. The first day we got it, my wife and I listened to it 4 times all the way through! Great blend of styles, from country on 'Hillbillies on speed' to Irish drinking music on 'Tom Grey's Dream'. This is a CD everyone should own!!"

"Some people don't know what "true" rockabilly is. "Rev It Up With Taz" is a taste of true rockabilly. Most songs are right on the money for making you tap your toes, whether you want to or not. There are only three or four that this disc could have done without, but that is strictly my opinion. Overall, it is really hard these days to come up with a CD that has every song rate a 10 and this CD accomplishes that on the majority. If you like to crank it up, this is worth the listen."
You gotta get it

"I saw this album while looking for some reverend horton heat. I'm glad I did. This is definatly one of my favorite rockabilly bands. The titles alone were enough to make me want it. Chuck Hughes is a great guitarist. He's up there with the Rev, Brian Setzer, Eddie Cochran. The drums are great, The bass is too. This and "Our brand" are both highly recommended by me."
