Not A Sound Track??

"Here we have Mancini "unplugged." He was not hired to produce a sound track for a TV show or movie, and simply showcases his ability to compose original music.

Not to say that these tracks are uninspired. For example, "Banzai Pipeline" derives from Mancini watching his son surfing in Hawaii. The beat of this tune is unique in all my personal experience. Mancini takes 8 beats to the measure and hits a downbeat, skips two beats, another downbeat, and then hits beats 7 and 8 successively. I've never heard anything else orechstrated quite that way before or since."
