"This 4 disc collection is essentially a sampler of the acclaimed film composer/arranger's entire recording career on RCA from 1958's PETER GUNN to 1990's album CLASSIC MOVIE LOVE SONGS, before his untimely death in 1994. Although it covers most of his best work from film and television (MOON RIVER, THE PINK PANTHER, CHARADE, DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, PETER GUNN, MR.LUCKY, etc.), this is not a comprehensive Greatest Hits collection. Instead, it offers a number of his stellar arrangements of primarily film themes that were not his own compositions (the huge # 1 hit LOVE THEME FROM ROMEO AND JULIET, THEME FROM LOVE STORY et al) mostly recorded in the 70's, 80's and 90's, showcasing his enormous talent in this area. One drawback is the lack of liner notes, but on the plus side the sound quality is generally top notch among the generous 67 tracks for a budget priced compiliation. Recommended."

"ALL of his big hits plus other hits that he recorded. It also has his recording of the instrumental version of " Just for Tonight"- music Hoagy Carmichael/lyrics Johnny Mercer that I have been looking for all over. It is so beautiful. He was truly one of a kind and his music timeless. This is a steal and a must for everyone's collection."
