"I thought this soundtrack was going to be just "OK" - but QAF sounds better than I thought it would! It didn't let me down. You'll recognize most of the songs if you watch QUEER AS FOLK on Showtime - and be proud you finally have them on a CD. They even have the "spunky" opening tune by 'Greek Buck' that opens each episode. My faves are on here too - I especially like "Proud" by Heather Small - sounds like a gay anthem ("What have ya done today to make ya feel proud...") featured on the first episode; "You Think You're A Man" with that brief infectious nasty laugh in it; "Dive In The Pool" which was used to close the first half dozen episodes; "Shake Me" sounds like a funky disco tune that reminds me of the 60's; and "Let's Hear It For The Boy" (a Justin theme song?).If you like QUEER AS FOLK, this CD will get you soakin' wet this coming summer. With QAF renewed for a second season, no doubt there will be more QAF soundtracks in the future. CD includes a few cast pictures from the TV show (including a big smirk from Brian - figures!) and liner notes from the executive producers. I like to see the QAF CD on the top 10 list nationally - it's time we had a "queer" soundtrack on the charts, don't you think? Straight To...Number One?"

"This is a great CD, but are you looking for the song that plays in episode 122, in the scene for "Brian's private party" with the scarf, the dance version of Happy Feet by Jack Hylton & His Orchestra? Check out the CD Something For Everybody: Baz Luhrmann by Baz Luhrmann (also on Amazon), and you'll find Happy Feet (High Heels Mix by BLAM, remixed by PAUL MAC)."

"What can I say! This CD is non stop fun! Upbeat high energy dance music! This Sountrack really goes hand in hand with the series! GreekBuck's Spunk really gets things going and when you think it's time to cool down, Barry Harris/Pepper Mashay hits you with Dive in the pool. "Let's get soaking wet!!", Pepper Mashay demands. I must commend Showtime on taking on such a controversial series. It is about time! They do it so tastefully and the soundtrack follows along! It is great to hear a "fresh" group of songs on a gay related sountrack. If I heard Gloria Gaynor on one more cd...UGH! Don't take me wrong, Gaynor isn't bad, but she is on every gay related cd! ENOUGH! I know I will be hearing many of the hits on this cd in the nightclubs! If you love to dance or just want to listen to an upbeat cd, Queer as Folk is for you...no matter what your sexual preference is!!!!"

QUEER IS GOOD BUT A LITTLE RUSHED

"I'm a big fan of the show and a huge HI-NRG music fan. While I like this CD, but I feel this CD was rushed to press. 'Spunk'by Green Buck, the shows theme is only 28 seconds. I was hoping for a full song. The highlights on this CD are:'Proud'by Heather Small, wonderful slutry vocals,'Lovin' You'by Kristine W.,this woman can sing, do yourself a favor by the extended remixes of this song.'Let's Hear It For The Boy'by Katty B, fun and bouncy. 'Shake Me'by Mint Royale is also fun, has hints of ABBA.'You Think You're A Man'by Full Frontal is great HI-NRG (good remake of Divine's original), so is 'Crying At The Discoteque'by Alcazar and 'Do YA (feel the love)'by Love Inc. 'Straight To...Number One'by Touch and Go is nice. The other songs are forgettable. This CD is missing one of the best songs from the series 'Filthy Mind'by Amanda Ghost, other then that, not bad. I would have enjoyed this CD a lot more had they included longer versions of these songs. All in all I'd recommend this CD. This soundtrack will keep you happy between episodes.4 stars."

"Don't get me wrong. This show is one of my favorite shows. It is addictive and I never missed an episode. The music used in the show itself featured some of the funkiest and danceable tunes which we would never been heard about otherwise....shying away from big names but to more obscue artists like Katti B., Alcazar, Full Frontal, etc. In fact, Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" is the only current hit used by the show.Half a dozen songs are featured in each episode and with a huge selection to choose from, this CD did a pretty good job in selecting the best tracks. Highlights include the opening titles Spunk, Dive In the Pool, which was used for the end titles in several episodes, You Think You're A Man, Let's Hear It For the Boy, Shake Me, Crying at the Discoteque, Suffering, a sarcastic rewritten version of Carole Pope's High School Confidential ...and the slinky and sexy remix of Straight to Number One by Touch N' Go.So why the three star rating?Well, this CD has filler...namely Summerfire, Let's Start Rocking and Do Ya Feel the Love. These songs sounds pretty much like generic dance music and doesn't really stand out like the other tracks.Also, some of the best music featured in the series is left out, and should have been included like Orange's The Music, Abbacadabra's Dancing Queen, Temperance's Forever Young, Velvet's Funky Dancer, Robin Black's hilarious More Effeminate Than You, and a club remix of Geri Halliwell's remake of These Boots Are Made For Walking.I know you can't put everything on one CD, but at only under an hour long, they could have slap a couple of more songs on.No doubt a second CD will probably surface.."
