CD Reviews

Hawkwind - 'Early Daze' (Thunderbolt)
Mike Reed | USA | 10/16/2004
(1 out of 5 stars)

"Seven Hawkwind tracks here that have been released OVER and OVER and OVER!!Avoid this CD at ALL costs UNLESS you're so bored and IF you were to stumble across a copy of it for,say $1.95 or LESS.Or perhaps you're one of those people that like bringing a 'new' goodie into your home JUST for the sake of doing so.'Early Daze' is a TRUE insult to both the band and fans alike.I KNOW that the Thunderbolt label has many other decent titles they've put out in the past."
Horrible sound, poor song selection

"This is a horrible CD of repackaged garbage, released solely by a record company to steal money from the unsuspecting public. This CD is actually rehashed material taken from two other CD's: Text Of Festival and Bring Me the Head of Yuri Garagin. The worst part is that only a few tracks were taken from each album, and this CD is very short at 35 minutes. (Maybe that's a good thing, considering how bad the CD is).It is live music from 1970 to 1973 time frame. It is supposedly taken from BBC recordings, but there is no way the BBC ever produced anything with this bad of sound quality. This is one of the worst sounding CD's you can buy. It is even worse than Black Sabbath's Live At Last or King Crimson's Epitath and Earthbound.Even if the sound quality were good, there are only two good tracks on this album. There is Hurry On Sundown, which was Hawkwind's first single and still the best song they have ever done. This version has a nice, extended guitar solo. The other good track is Orgone Accumulator. The rest is is a bunch of noise, some of it is just vocalizing at the audience."

"A good performance by Hawkwind....but, the sound quality is garbage. This is less than bootleg quality.Wish I knew this before purchasing the disc."
