GUANO APES - WALKING ON A THIN LINE
Caprycorn | Pearland, TX | 02/21/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Ever since I first heard "Open Your Eyes," I have been hooked on this band. They are amazing. And this new album proves it. This is their best album so far. Guano Apes seem to be one of those bands that grow with time, and each album they put out is better than the previous one. You can't find to many bands like that these days. This album sounds a lot different than their first two albums IMO. You can still tell it's them, but there seems to be a lot more softer melodic songs than before. Either way, Guano Apes are an awesome band and I think everyone should check them out, especially this new album. My favorite songs are: Pretty In Scarlet, Quietly, High, Kiss the Dawn, and You Can't Stop Me.01 - You Can't Stop Me - 4/5
02 - Dick - 3/5
03 - Kiss the Dawn - 4/5
04 - Pretty In Scarlet - 5/5
05 - Diokhan - 3/4
06 - Quietly - 5/5
07 - High - 5/5
08 - Sing That Song - 3/5
09 - Scratch the Pitch - 4/5
10 - Plastic Mouth - 4/5
11 - Storm - 4/5
12 - Sugar Skin - 3/5"

"Guano Apes are among the bets rock bands in the world. Hailing from Germany, the band is a mix of hard rock, funk, punk, and garage rock full of emotion and (gasp) talent. Any comparisons to No Doubt, Evanescence, or Lacuna Coil is simply because the band has a female lead singer. Guano Apes sound nothing like any of these bands.

This is GA's best disc to date. They are really hard to find in this country, so anytime you can get a disc of theirs, do it."

"by some random chance i called into virgin to have a look, i saw this in it's cool linen cover and without thought bought it straight away. Now that i'm listening to it i really like it, i've had "don't give me names" for what seems ages and it's one of my favourite albums just to relax to and enjoy.
For those who have never heard of guano apes they are a german pop/rock band who sing in english, led by Sandra Nasic. this album is definitely more determined/focused on what they do best which is play great guitar music interspersed with Sandra varying from calm+beautiful to angry in a few seconds. They are not that heavy, which lots of people assume when i say a german rock band for some reason!
i think it's terrible to associate bands just because they have a female lead but guano apes do sound like the more rock songs of No Doubt, and the music itself is reminiscent of foo fighters as in, it kind of rolls along on under it's own momentum and can change tempo during the song several times.
needless to say it'll occupy that space in my discman during many a lecture!"
