"What an amazing recording! It comes in a gorgeous collector's edition digipak, packed with liner notes and photographs. This is Grover in all his glory.

He plays with such splendid intensity, deep soul, funk & groove, and passion. He's a true genius at melody and improvisation. Superb audio quality, and a feast of his biggest hits played live. It's a lot of music, about 80 minutes - and conversation. To hear the warmth of Grover's voice makes this such a special experience.

Close your eyes and imagine you're in a concert hall with one of the greatest musicians of all time, backed by his talented touring band. Then you realize that Grover Lives On in all of us. Keep this spirit alive in the world. Turn your friends on to the magic. A Must have album! Long live Grover Washington Jr. in our hearts and on our stereo systems!

Thank you to his family and the producer Jason Miles for making this happen.

Missing Grover

"I just got my CD copy of Grover Live.. Not only is the music on this CD just superb but the packaging is also excellent. It is first rate. There are excellent and detailed liner notes and it just adds to the classiness of this package. The most important thing however is the music and the music and performances on this CD is nothing less than stunning. Grover shows why he was so loved and admired. His performances are masterful and the band lives up to his performances. We get to hear Winelight,Let It Flow,Soulful Strut, Mr Magic and his brilliant improvising and famous sound of his live for the first time on disk in 30 years since Live at The Bijou. It is so distinct-not like many players of today where you can't recognize one from the other. From bar 1 you know it's Grover. The CD is very emotional as you also get Grover talking to the audience and making you feel like he's playing this music for you. You wind through so many great moments. From an amazing performance of Sassy Stew to a medley of his hits It is all here. Grover was a big part of the story of our lives. His music back in the day was in my life everyday. The fact that this is a live CD of almost 80 minutes of music with no dead time or filler makes you see the genius that he was. This is as close to perfection as you cane get

An essential CD to own and one that you will be playing over and over again."
The Godfather of Contemporary Smooth Jazz - Live!

"It's hard to believe that it's been over 10 years since Grover Washington, Jr.'s untimely death. I've been a fan of his since 1975 when GW blew the world away with the album "Mr. Magic". This was the first time that anyone had heard jazz played so funky that you could actually dance to it. GW was truly an innovator and the best saxophonist ever!

Thanks to his wife Christine Washington and Jason Miles, we are blessed to hear one of Grover's last live performances, finally released on CD. What better way to complete your Grover collection than with this treasure. Recorded in 1997 in Peekskill, NY, this CD contains many of your favorite Grover songs, including "Winelight", "Take Five", "Soulful Strut", "Let It Flow" and "Mr. Magic". He also performs a nice medley of other hits including "Black Frost", "Inner City Blues", "Strawberry Moon" and more.

The sound is crystal clear and Grover sounds as great live as he did on studio recordings. He makes the sax "sing" like no other artist can. He's backed by a tight rhythm section and a full orchestra. You'll feel like you were actually in the audience while listening to this. If you've been following his career and music since the beginning like I have, then you know that the music speaks for itself.

This may not be the last music we hear from Grover. According to the liner notes, Mrs. Washington states that "Grover left a treasure trove of recorded live concert dates on digital audio tape". So we can reasonably expect that more live music will be released on CD. Hopefully, we won't have to wait another ten years to hear it.
