"No originals here, save for 2 tracks of his "own" that Greyboy has remixed for the project. Interestingly enough, the 2 remixes are the worst moments that this particularly strong collection of rare grooves, has to offer. "Genvieve," the Cymande composition, is pretty weak sounding in a reggae format. And "Got to be a love" which absolutely cooks on Soul Mosaic, is reduced to studio blather here.

Now onto the good stuff. If you're a beat-head, tired of scouring shelves at huge, corporate record stores looking for 1 decent album - well here you go. You can probably find it at your local Top 40 music graveyard too.

So many tight, vintage jams you can't shake a stick at 'em - great part is that you probably haven't heard any of them. Most are of the funky 45 variety (2:30 minutes), but some of them stretch out and really jam.

If you're looking for a DJ album, all cut up and scratched, this ain't it. If you're looking for a old school comp, well this isn't really it either. If you're looking for almost an entire album's worth of rare grooves, mixed together almost seamlessly by one of the brightest heads in the industry, this is for you.

Hip hop funk

"i was very happy with this album, its either some of the funkiest hip hop djing or some of the freshest funk out there. Greyboy sets the perfect party atmosphere with out being poppy or clubby. get this album."

"This album is touted as the type of mix you might hear if you went to club where DJ Greyboy was spinning at.

So this is not his original compositions and songs. There are a few remixes on here of songs off Soul Mosaic which are different enough from the album versions that they're interesting.

The majority of the songs are really funky hard-to-find obscure songs by artists that you've never heard of. Nonetheless, the man has a good ear for music.

Most songs are funky and probably from the 60's or 70's. It's similar to James Brown and his Funky People.

So if you're into different hard-to-find groove based funky music, I'd pick it up. It's already got Greyboy's approval.

But if you're really into the newer hip hop / beats type of music, I'd steer clear, especially given the high retail price."
