"This disc collects two of Godflesh's singles, one of which is already included on the SLAVESTATE album. Just so you know."Slateman" is one of Godflesh's most, um, majestic songs, with an incredibly heavy riff which still comes off as melodic. This is a great song, and worth having if you are into guitar work at all."Wound 91" is a remake of a song off of STREETCLEANER with a subtly different riff propelling it. I like it more now than I did in 1991 when I didn't see that it was more than a rerecording of the original."Cold World", alas, is the sort of song that doesn't get released on a full album for a reason. It's not bad, just kinda by-the-numbers, maybe a bit more Goth than most Godflesh (or is that only because there's a somber organ in it."Nihil" is a creepy little piece of atmosphere, not too much more, and it's given two remixes which basically each move it further into the direction of sort of a Wax-Trax feel. The guitar work is not usual for Broadrick, sort of a spidery 1983-Robert-Smith sort, and the bassline is awfully sinister...Basically, if you have the rest of the early Godflesh, this disc is worth getting. The tracks sound good isolated in, say, a mixtape or DJ show, but like many singles, this isn't something you'll listen to too often all the way through."
