CD Reviews

DIGITAL STEREO from the ORIGNAL BAND!
F. Barton | Newport, WA USA | 07/02/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD, with it's STEREO tracks, is the single best example of remastering I've EVER heard. When you think these were recorded BEFORE WW2, when the recording studios themselves did not have this sound, it is a miracle! The sound jumps to FULL DIGITAL on my amplifier, and it will on yours too. SO THRILLING to hear the vocals coming from different speakers, and the incredible sound of the band --- it's like you were THERE, in 1941! While I own a different version of this, mine was combined with a complete Sunset Serenade broadcast, the 20-20,000 frequency range has NOT changed! To hear IN THE MOOD and most of all a LONG version of "Chattanooga Choo Choo", the FIRST Gold Record by the way, in fidelity that could blow your speakers out is worth a LOT more than you will spend on this CD! You will NOT believe your ears! TEN STARS for Universal for keeping the soundtrack intact!"
A New way of Hearing The Miller Sound !
C. R. Stanley | Jonesboro, Georgia, USA | 02/25/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The stereo and high fidelity recordings on this CD are taken from The SUN VALLEYSERENADE and ORCHESTRA WIVESmotion picture soundtracks. The soundtracks are the onlysource for such high quality recordings as these. If you want to hear this band as itsounded in 1941 and 1942 in its' full dynamic range, getthis CD ! Try listening once with headphones. This album also includes conventionally recorded tracks, including a promo recording and excerpts from the 11/22/41 SUNSET SERENADE radio program. Tracks 14 and 15 give some insight into the production of the finished soundtracks, notof high quality, but still avaluable addition. I would heartily recommend this CD to both long-time and first-timeMiller fans."
Incredible remastering! Great sound!
Brian H. Williams | Manteca, CA United States | 05/20/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Ok, sure there are only 4 cuts in true stereo but let me tell you, it's worth it! How many of us have fantisized what the Miller band really sounded like? I know I have. Here is your only chance to hear Gelnn Miller in all his glory in modern day sound. The quality of the recording of the first track is unbelievable. It compltely outstrips the quality of ALL his recordings in the studio. We should be thankful that his band was recorded on multi-tracks in 1941. They remixed it from those tracks to make a true stereo mix. Get this if you want to hear what Miller really sounded like!"
