"Having studied Italian with an old Italian musician, he constantly brought up the name of Gino Bechi and how, by paying careful attention to the pronunciation, one could improve one's singing technique. Only recently having listened to this singer, I certainly agree with this assessment. Bechi pronounces/sings the words as you would say them, technique be d*****, and in doing so, creates an excitement in his sound that is like the high wire artist without a net. The best recording I've heard of the Cavaleria Rusticana aria. A dark biting sound."
