Synopsis

Album Description
Following from the Top 10 success of 'Freeek' comes George Michael's controversial new single 'Shoot The Dog'. Due to the provocative title & themes of the song which questions the coziness of Tony Blair's relationship with George W. Bush, George Michael felt it necessary to explain his views, 'I have strong opinions on Britain's current situation & I feel that in a time when public debate is being suppressed even something as trivial as a pop song can be a good thing'. 'Shoot The Dog' is intended as a piece of political satire, no more no less, & I hope that it will make people laugh & dance, & then think'. Tracks, 'Shoot The Dog' (Explicit Album Version), 'Shoot The Dog' (Moogymen Mix), 'Shoot The Dog' (Alexkid Shoot The Club Remix) & 'Shoot The Dog' (Enhanced Video). 2002.

CD Reviews

Unfortunately misunderstood by most

(5 out of 5 stars)

"If only people actually listen to the lyrics, and see George Michael's comments on his official web site, this song will be more appreciated. Many people just rush into the judgment. Rare for George Michael to make such an obvious political song, so I was very intrigued. He also continues to produce cross over between funk and disco, almost remind you of Prince. If you liked early George Michael songs, you will appreciate this song. I don't really care for remixes, but the video is worth it. I can't wait for his new album."
3 Great Tracks and Video

(5 out of 5 stars)

"George Michael fans...the orginal is first, it's fun, real bubbly, and I hear some sound effects from one of the remixes of Freeek!, and Fast Love. There is also a sample of the Human League's Love Action(I Believe in Love)?
The second track reminds me of Beat It when I first hear the drum intro. I would expect to hear this in a club. This is a darker sounding mix. "I know that you're h-rny", and "See Sergeant Bilco having fun again"...his words echo in and out of sync with the beat and in some places distorts, on purpose of course. "We're getting freaky tonight", over the top of some heavy synths and synth basses, this mix is full of energy. This track is worth the cost of the cd.
The third track is smooth and refreshing. It's also faster than the original. This is the clean radio version. It's catchy, and the instrumentation is not the same as the original.
The video is very straight forward. This is a cartoon video, but you knew that already. Check out George in drag.
I think this cd is wonderful. If your a George fan, buy it! If you like dance music the second track is worth it."
