Early George Jones!

"George Jones is a honky tonk hero. His music is legendary. He is a jukebox legend, and he is still widely popular, even today. And, in 2000, he was given an installment in UMG's '20th Century Masters' series.

Unlike many George Jones sets, this focuses strictly on his early years on the Mercury label, spanning 1955-1967. These sides are mighty fine, although many people prefer the Columbia sides of the 1970s and 1980s.

How does this collection measure up? Read on.

-The sound quality is superb!

"Like all 20th Century Masters CDs, the George Jones Millennium Collection contains nothing but hits. In my opinion, all of George's songs were hits, and this collection is the perfect place to start for anyone new to George Jones. "White Lightning", "Just One More", and "Treasure of Love", just to name a few good ones. Curiously absent from this disc is the fantastic 'The Race is On', in my opinion one of the best Jones songs ever created. But this disc is definitely a worthy buy, so go ahead."
