CD Reviews

One of all-time best Bensons

"
This CD contains an amazing amount of excellent music. And don't think you can hear it all from the available sample tracks: the best is in the second half of the album.

This album mixes some of the Benson singer and some of the best Benson musician. But the most valuable quality is the "wholeness" of the production level. Contributors such as Bob James and Randy Brecker are amongst the best living musicians. In particular the arrangements by Bob James are excellent.

In this album there is what for me is the best Benson song, "Lovin' on borrowed time", a gem that is very little known. And Benson's interpretation of the famous "Calling you" is mesmerizing. Amongst the intrumentals, excellent are "Lost in love", "Willing to fight" and "Somewhere island".

This album will be loved by both the fans of Benson singer, and the contemporary jazz fans. If you trust my word: you don't want to miss it.

"A very good smooth jazz album with a little touch of r&b thanks to some help from Brian McKnight. George is a wonderful guitarist/vocalist and this album is very easy to listen to. This album has 4 instrumentals, the rest have vocals. Every track on this album is good, and fits any mood. As well as Brian McKnight,.. Kirk Whalum, Bob James and Randy Brecker also lend their talents. For lovers of smooth jazz, I recommend this album."
