How I Wish for 20 CDs this Good from Gato

"I also saw Gato live, this year. It was utterly transcendant, powerful and percussive. Nothing like the great majority of his albums. This CD is a taste of what he can do live - a different bag altogether. I hope I can find a more recent CD that captures his current power surge. His band was as exciting as McCoy Tyner's, which I also saw this year, and that is saying a lot! The misjudgments in material selection and targeting of smooth-jazz audiences will mar his reputation, even as it made him some money in the late 70's early 80's, and again in the late 90's. I hold no grudges for an artist trying to survive, but PLEASE give the rest of us more of your powerful, percussive soul!"
