Synopsis

Album Description
Very few bands have been able to combine the best elements of punk, hardcore, emo and pop to make something simpler, something all their own. Orange County's Gameface has been perfecting just such a style since 1990 and have never looked back. There's good reason why Gameface have been credited with influencing so many of today's younger, successful bands (ie: Saves The Day, A New Found Glory, etc). Gameface's history can be traced through their four 7" singles, four full length releases, and split EP along with six US and two European tours. 1999 saw the return of Gameface with the release of 'Every Last Time' after a three year break between full-lengths. The album was immediately embraced by fans and the single "My Star" was played on radio and video shows everywhere. This release, 'Always On', shows a maturation that can only come with experience. 'Always On' is a ten track collection of the emotional, melodic rock that Gameface have become known for and somehow improve upon with each release. Produced by Jim Monroe, some stand-out tracks on the new album show the band branching out in slightly new directions. Songs like "Balance" and "Accidental Clarity" are more melancholy than one might expect from Gameface, while songs like "The Warmest Heart Attack" and "Robots" are decidedly more rock than punk. But, the feelgood GF tunes are still present as are the heartfelt lyrics, making 'Always On' the most well-rounded Gameface record yet.

CD Reviews

Amazing album
01/16/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Gameface did it again. One of the pioneers of modern independent rock music. This record doesnt stray too far from their former full length (every last time), but the songwriting has grown quite a bit. Jeff Caudill writes amazing songs, with hooks to kill. Gameface is a band that has and will pass the test of time, this is a classic record and one that my record collection could not live without."
