"The Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble Helmut Rilling are quite simply the premier performers of choral Bach in the world and without a doubt this is the definitive recording of one of the most exquisite choral works ever written. I have heard this group including the Gaechinger Kantorei in the Stuttgarter Stiftskirche, they are simply awesome. In Schwaben, where we take our Lutheran heritage seriously, a Christmas without the Bach Wiehnachtsoratorium is as unthinkable as one without beeswax candles on the Weihnachtsbaum (christmas tree). Forget the utter inanity of Handel's Messiah, and buy this complete series of Bach's Christmas oratorios, it will leave you speechless. You must buy this CD."
