However, in regards to hip-hop, this album is lyrically superior to 99% of the hip hop ever produced. The music is innovative and inspired. No loops, just sample wizardry. All tracks are great and worthy of repeated listens. Album is highly regarded in underground circles but never yielded the group the success they were rightly due.
This was LA's real underground answer to the NY hip hop of the early 90's. Gritty, raw, and funky with solid lyrical content. A little too real to gain mainstream appeal I guess. Only wish they kept at it..." |
