ALBUM OF THE YEAR

"Who said lighter was a bad word? They haven't heard FFAF's new album, which proves that lighter doesn't always mean "less enjoyable." These UK lads turned down the distortion-heavy guitar riffs, replacing them with captivating guitar lines bursting with melody to create a sonic masterpiece full of catchy, rockin', and memorable songs. If you liked "Hours," you'll love this one. It's the same deal: great songs and great lyrics. That and it has a great concept to it, revolving around a maritime story of loss, regret, hope, and fear. The lyrics are captivating, inspiring, and pure genius. As for the music, yes, it is not the same band that did "Casually Dressed Up & Deep In Conversation". But that's a good thing. Back then, they were just following the screamo trend. Now, these guys have grown-up and proven that they can write good songs and that you don't need heavy, technical riffs to write good songs or be a great musician. Being a great musician is about conveying emotion through sound. On "Tales Don't Tell Themselves", Funeral For A Friend does just that by creating ten tracks of musical magic that I doubt anyone will ever be able to replicate. The album is truly original, catchy, powerful, and invigorating. Anyone who says otherwise is either deaf or an ignorant 19 year old FFAF fan too wrapped up in how tight their pants are and how heavy their music is. Every song is amazing and proves that these guys are the real deal. Absolutely the greatest album of 2007."
