CD Reviews

Great 2-CD pack
J. L. | 03/01/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a truly great 2-CD pack, for those who haven't got those quintessential FLA albums (TNI mainly, but Millennium is a good addition too). I'm not quite sure if these records are really remastered, but they don't really seem to need it. Anyway, it's a great double reissue and a new chance to grab these masterpieces (finding those CDs outside the US proves to be a very difficult task...). If you are new to Front Line Assembly this package should do fine for you. But beware: Millennium has loads and loads of sampled guitars all over it and "Victim of a Criminal" is a song you can only love or hate (and I hate it; If I liked rap/hip-hop or whatever it is I would have bought a Limp Bizkit album). If you don't care about those musical issues, you should be fine. I'm in fact mentioning this because many FLA fans complain about the heavy metal-oriented nature of Millennium in detriment of their purely electronic magic heard in past albums. But.. to each his own, right?

In general terms, I love both albums; Tactical Neural Implant is the true Front Line Assembly, and Millenium is a truly welcome "change" of direction without comprimising the industrial heritage the band carries (with the only real exception being "Victim of a Criminal", but listen to it, anyway, you might like it after all...)."
