Synopsis

Product Description
Emanating out of Harlem, New York in the mid- 50s, the groundbreaking
sounds of doo-wop vocal legends Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers had
influence far beyond the short time they were together. Lead singer Lymon, who died of a drug overdose at age 26, was only 13 when the group formed. His wise-beyond-his-years, force of nature voice the template for many vocalists to
come, chief among them Jackson 5-era Michael Jackson soars on their signature smash Why Do Falls Fall In Love, a Billboard® #1 R&B/#6 pop hit. It's among the 16 classics on this single-disc anthology, which
also features treasures including The ABCs Of Love, I Want You To Be My Girl, and Little Bitty Pretty One.

Fitting Title

(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like Frankie Lymon and the teenagers, this is all you need. Their very first album is also included in its entirety. Along with the better known songs, you may truly enjoy such rarities as "paper Castles, '"Share," and "Teenage Love" (the latter is not to be confused with the Slick Rick tune of 30 years later). So if you want the full deal on Frakie Lymon and co-buy this after you see the movie. BTW-Interesting to compare this with the collection by his brother Lewis Lymon and their group the Teenchords."
Giant little magicmaker

(4 out of 5 stars)

"RHINO records THE VERY BEST OF FRANKIE LYMAN & THE TEENAGERS is a nicely designed album that presents this seminal 50s doo-wop group at their finest. An outstanding liner note book includes great vintage photos, a comprehensive bio, and song info that places them all into specific moments of the group's brief historic run at the top of the music world mountain.

Six tracks on this set made BILLBOARD's R&B charts, while four of these same titles placed lower on the POP listings. The final cut presented, Lyman's solo cover of "Little Bitty Pretty One," topped out at #58 on the POP 100. Gone was Frankie's high-tenor voice and the magic he created as a "Teenager."
