A Piece of Rock History that Must Not Missed
04/12/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The most noteworthy aspect of The Flock's music is not the oft mentioned violin stylings of Jerry Goodman, but the rich textures and driving pulses provided by the amazing horn section. The trio of Tom Webb, Frank Posa, and Rick Canoff did more for the art of the rock horn section than Chicago and BS&T combined. This is a must have album for any fan of late 60s progressive rock. The Flock seamlessly melds r&b. jazz, country, funk, and folk into a stomping rock melange to please the most skeptical listener. A true "Super Group"."
Totally Unconventional Band
Original Mixed Up-Kid | New York United States | 08/20/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Unique musical experience from this 1960's group who were capable of fusing Rock, blues, jazz, country and folk music within a structure labelled jazz rock..very different from Blood,Sweat and Tears and Chicago, The Flock utilized Jerry Goodman, later of Mahavishnu Orchestra to add violin to the sound.

The cd here collects great songs from their ist couple of albums and unreleased songs from the albums and songs from a 3rd release that never hit..their 3rd album would have been wonderful considering the tracks assembled here that plays homage to that Miles Davis Bitches Brew period sound..

Eccentric in areas, covering The Kinks,You Really Got Me,Sounding like Flo and Eddie,Zappa in other songs, The Flock soar high.

This compilation has great sound and sounds fresh."
Truly Classic Recordings!

"This group was way ahead of its time. While certainly one of the most creative bands of their time, or any other time, they also really ROCKED. You'll want to play this one LOUD.I saw them live a number times, and these records, while not the cleanest, come pretty close to capturing what they were like in concert.Great writing, great musicianship, witty lyrics, and tremendous energy make this a true classic."
