"One of the greatest yet most sadly overlooked singers ever, this collection of classic performances from the 70's is a stunning reminder of this...this incredibly great singer could sing anything and better than most having chart hits as an acclaimed child star from the early 50's through the 60's with "Release Me" and "And I Love Him" which caught the attention of The Beatles who sent for Esther who performed for them in England then on to her greatest recordings of the 70's...yet acclaim and success didn't match her brilliant output and artistry...listen to how Esther gets inside of every great song in this stunning compilation making each song uniquely her own and clearly the definitive version! "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" is one of the most deeply soulful vocal performances ever captured in a studio along with "From A Whisper To A Scream" which moved Aretha to be the one to give Esther her "Grammy Award" and this was a brave a noble move on Lady Soul's part and this honor to Esther was richly deserved...this was a first in "Grammy Award History"! Listen to how Esther gets inside of "Use Me" and makes this standard all her own as only she could do...collect them all by this great original who was a real musical genius while they are in print as there will never be another to match this legendary talented wonder...Bravo Esther Phillips and you are truly missed!"
