Synopsis

Album Description
"With Claire Chevallier a most sensitive soloist, very French in style, the piano is more clearly defined over the highly original, generally low-lying orchestration, growling up from nowhere at the start." -- Gramophone One of the rare recordings on period instrument of Satie's piano music, by Claire Chevallier. The choice of repertoire is concentrated on Satie's esoteric period.

CD Reviews

An excellent rendition of some gorgeous music
Douglas Flummer | C'dale, Illinois | 03/12/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Erik Satie is a pleasure that I suspect many people have missed. There are recordings that would be excellent suggestions for people wanting to explore Satie's work (a disc by Michel Legrand immediately comes to mind), but for the simple beauty and elegance of the music as it is presented, this recording is an excellent choice. Ms. Chevallier's respect for the composer and his music is reflected in her choice of period pianos, and for the clarity of the tone throughout the recording. Most importantly, this is beautiful music, beautifully performed, and would be an excellent addition to a music lover's collection."
