"The best mix of religious and prophan music. Ensalada means something mixed (like a vegetable meal) in spanish language. Latin and ancient spanish (castilian)in a lovely and hard music.Love and war... battle horses, old castles... you can live all of these sensations...Mateo Fletxa "el vell" was a catalan musician working for the Infantas of Castilla."

"The totally gripping music of Mateo Flecha is not quite done justice to in this recording - which is really quite surprising considering that it is directed by Jordi Savall, who really is totally mad, and a stunning director. The recording on Harmonia Mundi called Canciones y Ensaladas totally blows all of this away. Dominique Visse, who is the director, arttacks the music with much more panache, and flare, which creates a much better recording, and cd as a whole. You would actually be very stupid not to check out Canciones y Ensaladas."
