One of Ennio's Best

"Okay, so this soundtrack isn't for everyone, but if you're a fan of Free/Avant-Garde Jazz, consider adding this album to your catalog. Moreover, if you're a fan of John Zorn, you will really here in this album how Morricone's work was very influential to Zorn, more specifically his Naked City Group. For a soundtrack composed for an Italian 70s Thriller, I think, Morricone and this group of improvisers do an excellent job capturing the mood and tone of the movie with these particular pieces. Yeah, it might resemble some of that other fusion stuff from the early 70s, but I can't but help think of how limited the technology was back then for musicians, not to mention, how this particular genre/sound is still taking baby steps at this point in the realm of free jazz/music. I enjoy how this album will toss out different themes, styles, and phrasings from out of nowhere throughout the entire recording, only to leave you guessing as to what's next. Recommended."
