Synopsis

Album Description
This album blends traditional Egyptian rhythms and instrumentation with Western instrumentation to create an excellent world fusion album featuring lively rhythms and expert musicianship. This is the third collaboration between Hossam Ramzy, a world-famous Egyptian percussionist with a number of best-selling albums, and Phil Thornton, one of New World's most consistently best-selling artists. Their first two albums Eternal Egypt and Immortal Egypt have both been very successful.

CD Reviews

Traditional Egyptian music meets Western music
Petar Vodogaz | Sydney, NSW Australia | 02/04/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As a historical reader of books and listener of ancient music from around the world, I was excited to come across this certain album as I have since a child held a facination in ancient Egyptian culture and sociology as well music and instrumentation. 'Enchanted Egypt' is over an hour of enhanced enchantment. The album is a work of art musician wise and sound wise in collaboration between Phil Thornton & Hossam Ramzy (a Egyptian musician himself). It is indeed a collaboration between the western style of music and the eastern (african) style, both unique and within this tapestry what the listener comes to bear is that both music styles blend well together and form a rich listening experience. This is a 11 track album that blends traditional Egyptian instrumentals and sounds with arabic influences and african unique sounds. Phil Thornton on his side, brings in the Western style of music.

Much of the album was performed in Cairo, Egypt as well parts in England and the album was released mid 2005 to a extensive patiently awaiting fan base.

The songs themselves are of a high quality that is new age with blends of ambience, and folk. All the songs for me were enjoyable and any fan of new age or a lover of anything Egyptian sounding should enjoy this album. 'Apostles of the Interface' is the first track and its a well worth opening song for this CD. The third song 'Zaiellas' was one of my favourite songs for it was from start to finish melodious and easy to listen to.

I look forward to purchasing and listening to more of Phil Thornton's & Hossam Ramzy's works. Ancient Egypt lives on within the music of the present and the faith of the believers."
Beautiful Collection of Hossam's Artistry

"This is a great continuation of the Eternal, Immortal, and now Enchanted Egypt series. As a belly dancer, I find this collection very danceable, particularly Track 2: On the Desert Road to Alexandria. I lived in Cairo for two years and have actually been on that desert road, so the song has special meaning for me. No matter if you are a cabaret or an ATS tribal dancer; this collection has something for everyone. It's my new favorite CD."
Fantastic for Meditation or Dance

"Hossam Ramzy is great but Hossam Ramzy and Phil Thornton together are really something else. I have all of their "Egypt" albums on my ipod and it puts in you a meditative state but you can still dance. Odd but true."
