Elmore James was one of the most influential and widely imitated post-war blues stylists. James developed a fully integrated style that was based upon, and extended, aspects of the earlier approach of the legendary Delta blues man Robert Johnson. Elmore's searing electric slide guitar adorned his powerful, deeply emotional vocals. Despite health problems, Elmore James continued to work until his death in May 1963, his music remains as fresh and exciting as it was in the early 50's when these 27 cuts were recorded.
