CD ReviewsBrilliant is an understatement. The London Rich | 01/16/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was extremely lucky to be given a copy of this album on vinyl. It is by far one of Ella Fitzgerald's best works. The arrangements are simple: her voice and a piano. That's it. That's all. Her voice conveys all the emotion the songs need, and the sparse piano arrangements compliment her perfectly. However, this album is impossible to find on CD, and when you can find it, it's incredibly expensive. Fortunately, Polygram re-released this album as "Intimate Ella" (conveniently available here on Amazon). It's just a shame that they went through such pains to repackage it as though it were a mere collection instead of the whole (and wholly beautiful) album that it is."
